ÖÆ·þÓÕ»ó Musical
About us
Welcome to the ÖÆ·þÓÕ»ó Musical! Now entering the 36th year, the ÖÆ·þÓÕ»ó Musical is a huge creative spectacle celebrating the wealth of talents of the ÖÆ·þÓÕ»ó and TGGS communities both on stage and behind the scenes. Although organised by boys’ school staff, we continue to welcome all students from both schools to take part; it is an incredibly valuable opportunity for the students to interact and work together on a high-quality production. The show has become exceptionally popular in recent years, and it is great to have so many people involved – everyone is welcome!
Meet the Production Team
Our production team: Dr Hunt (Director), Miss Chapman (Assistant Director), Miss Pellant (Producer and Choreographer) and Mr Eastman (Musical Director).
What to expect
There is no audition to be a part of the ÖÆ·þÓÕ»ó Musical unless you want to be considered for a named or lead role in the show. Please just come along!
Musical rehearsals take place every Monday and Wednesday after school plus two all day Saturday rehearsals in February. There are 4 evening performances plus a concert preview in the Autumn term. For TGGS students, we are aware that this clashes with the TGGS Musical performance; we fully support the participation of TGGS students in both productions and would encourage them to attend rehearsals where possible whilst balancing both productions.
If you did not want to take part on stage but still want to get involved, we would love to have you involved in our orchestra, which rehearse on a Tuesday after school, or our Tech crew.
Direct communication regarding rehearsal schedules, costumes, social events and club benefits is all coordinated via a secure ÖÆ·þÓÕ»ó Teams page. We will also post updates via this website and the ÖÆ·þÓÕ»ó social media pages.
Any student that wishes to be a part of next year’s musical on or off stage, must sign up via this permission form: Failure to sign up to this form will result in not being added to the Teams page missing key communication updates.
Upcoming show
The 2026 show (3rd – 6th March) is Into the Woods! Our first taster rehearsal will be on Monday 15th September 3:45-4:30 in the Centenary Hall. Auditions will take place on Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th September also in the Centenary Hall. You do not need to audition to be part of the chorus. Please come along to the first taster rehearsal and then again when full rehearsals start on Monday 22nd September.
When auditioning for a lead role, please pick the character you think demonstrates your voice and acting to the best of your ability, even if you do not want to be considered for that character. We will not be auditioning for every single character separately, so if you want to be considered for any singing or acting role in the show (big or small), please pick one of the audition pieces and prepare this to the best of your ability. We recommend that you pick just one character and prepare this fully; you can indicate to us in the audition room of which roles you would like to be considered for.
Character descriptions and audition pieces can be found below:

Auditioning tips
We know auditions can be nerve-racking however, the most important thing to remember is that everyone in the audition room wants you to do your best. To help you do this, we have some audition top tips:
- Be prepared – before the audition, ask questions about the audition process, get the materials you need to prepare, ask for advice about how to audition, do some research on your character etc.
- Learn your lines – if you can, try and learn the lines for your song to allow you to act the song to the best of your ability. You can bring the words in with you however!
- Practice your audition in front of an audience before you audition – this could be to a family member and/or a friend. This will help you with ‘first-performance’ nerves and give you more confidence when you perform the piece again in the audition room.
- Bounce back – nerves can affect us in ways we don’t expect so if your audition does not go as planned, that’s okay! We understand that mistakes happen, so try your best to refocus and show us what you have prepared.
- Be yourself – we want to see your interpretation of the character you’re playing, your strengths, your talent. Try not to compare yourself to others and focus your positivity on yourself and showing what you can do.
Break a leg!
