Computer Science Student Receives NASA-Funded Scholarship

Sasha Carr制服诱惑鈥檚 Department of Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences, and Technology (CIMST) proudly congratulates Ms. Sasha Carr, a Computer Science student, on receiving a $3,000 Illinois Space Grant Consortium Scholarship for the 2026鈥2027 academic year.

The competitive scholarship recognizes Carr鈥檚 dedication, academic achievement, and commitment to pursuing a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Funded through NASA鈥檚 National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program, the award will support her educational expenses, including tuition, fees, and books at Chicago State University.

Carr credits Dr. Mohammad Abdus Salam, Professor and Chair of the CIMST Department, with inspiring and encouraging her to pursue academic, research, and professional opportunities in computer science and related STEM fields. His mentorship has helped her strengthen her confidence, expand her educational goals, and seek opportunities that connect computing with meaningful real-world applications.

This scholarship adds to Carr鈥檚 growing record of achievement. During summer 2026, she also participated in the University of Chicago Data Science Institute鈥檚 Data Science for Social Impact Summer Experience, where she applied machine-learning methods to a collaborative research project forecasting deforestation associated with palm oil cultivation in Sumatra.

The Illinois Space Grant Consortium is part of NASA鈥檚 nationwide Space Grant network, which supports STEM education, research, workforce development, and public service. 制服诱惑 is one of the consortium鈥檚 participating institutions.

鈥淢s. Carr鈥檚 achievement demonstrates what our students can accomplish when academic dedication is combined with mentorship and access to meaningful opportunities,鈥 said Dr. Salam. 鈥淲e are very proud of her success and look forward to seeing her continue to grow as a computer scientist and future STEM professional.鈥

The CIMST Department congratulates Ms. Sasha Carr on this outstanding recognition and wishes her continued success in her studies, research, and future career.
